Lab Grown Diamond
Engagement Rings

Design your own engagement ring using lab grown diamonds - a more sustainable and ethical alternative to naturally-mined diamonds.

Created in a laboratory setting, lab grown diamonds are becoming an increasingly popular choice as a centre stone for bespoke engagement rings. Man-made diamonds share the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds, meaning they have the same visual beauty and quality. But they can also be cheaper than earth-mined diamonds of similar size and quality.

You can now create the lab grown diamond engagement ring of your dreams. Simply choose the shape of your lab diamond, and its carat, cut, clarity and colour. Then you can either buy loose lab grown diamonds, or set your stone in the setting option of your choice. Use the filters below to start creating your man made diamond engagement ring.

What is a lab grown diamond?

A lab grown diamond is just like a ‘normal’ diamond but created in a laboratory setting. While a natural diamond forms deep within the earth, a lab grown diamond replicates this process inside a high pressure, high temperature machine. Due to this, lab grown diamonds are cultivated far more quickly than natural, mined diamonds.

How are lab grown diamonds made?

Grown within a laboratory, a lab grown diamond starts out as a carbon seed which is then exposed to high temperatures and pressures. This mimics the way a natural diamond is formed. It usually takes around six to ten weeks for the diamond to be cultivated. After this, lab grown diamonds are cut and polished in exactly the same way as other diamonds.

Why choose a lab grown diamond engagement ring?

There are a number of benefits of choosing a lab grown diamond when designing your engagement ring. Lab grown diamonds are seen as a more ethical choice due to not being mined, while they are usually much cheaper. Lab grown diamond engagement rings ultimately offer the same sparkle as those using a natural diamond, as the chemical properties of the diamonds are the same.

Are lab grown diamond engagement rings cheaper?

A lab grown diamond engagement ring is often around 30% cheaper than a natural diamond engagement ring due to the relative time taken to cultivate such a diamond. Even so, lab grown diamonds do vary in price due to the same factors that influence the cost of natural diamonds; shape, cut, clarity, carat and colour.
